2009 One Book One Community - Your Vote Counts
The Allegheny County Library Association will soon be launching its seventh One Book, One Community program. Reading and civic discourse lead to an informed, involved, and more connected community, and One Book was designed with that goal in mind. Although communities throughout the U.S. embrace the One Book concept, ACLA wanted to broaden the scope by focusing on a theme first, then choosing a book that would invite discussion and broaden perspectives. The theme for the 2009 One Book program is “Visions of the Future.” The One Book Committee met in July and worked through 22 possible titles reflecting this theme. The list was then winnowed down to the top three picks of the committee. Now it’s your turn. VOTE HERE for the 2009 One Book title. The information below will give you an idea of the criteria we use for selection:
